The Best Place to Find a Date

Girls? You want to know where the best place to find a date is? Listen to the words of the old song, "where the boys are." That is where you will find a date. Honestly, where you will find men is the best place to meet them. Need a new hammer? Head over to the local hardware store and check out the hammers and the men while you are at it. If anything, you have a perfect ice breaker if you do find a likely prospect. "Pardon me, which of these hammers would you recommend?" In my experience, most men love to talk to women, and they love to talk about tools, so before you know it you just might have date. I just hope for you sake he is done talking about hammers by then.

Local sporting events might be a good place to look too. If you are lucky enough to live near a college or university, you can attend their games for far less than what you would pay for professional sports. If you really are a devoted sports fan, then season tickets to the team of your choice can go a long way to making new friends for you. Can't afford them? Pool resources with other people and work out a schedule for who uses the tickets and when. You have just expanded your circle of friends, possibly to your dating advantage.

Never turn down an invitation. Your friend asked you over for a party? Put on a bright smile and go, you never know when someone will have dragged their unattached cousin along with them. Unless you live in a rural area, you are probably surrounded by people at least part of each day, so smile and strike up conversations wherever you go. If nothing else, you will be sharpening your social skills.

If you are truly, painfully shy though, and none of your friends is willing or able to set you up with a date, then you might consider online dating. There are countless dating sites, offering nearly every niche and taste imaginable. There is literally something for everybody on the Internet, you simply have to know where to look. Check out the bigger name sites first and see if you are at all interested. The better sites allow you to look around before you actually sign up, so keep that in mind before you sign up. Do not get roped into a lengthy contract before you know exactly what you expect to find from the site itself and from any potential matches. Some sites have listings for marriage minded as well as people only looking for casual dating, so know what you want and what you are getting.

If the Internet is really not for you and you are just not meeting the right person, consider the speed dating events that are held in most major cities. You sit at a table while a volley of men sit across from you and attempt to dazzle you in five minutes. A bell rings, and a new man takes the seat and gives the same thing a try. At the end of the night, you rate the men and whether or not you would consider an actual date with them or not. The events get high reviews from participants for the most part, and if they work, why not?

In the end, you know yourself and your tastes better than anybody else does. You don't go looking for a husband in a bar and you don’t try to hook up for a one night stand with the choir master at your local church. Know what you will want and that will narrow down your searching spots. Happy hunting!

Miss Philippines Earth 2009 Winners

Sandra Seifert Crowned Miss Philippines Earth 2009

Sandra Seifert of Negros Occidental was crowned Miss Philippines Earth 2009 in the Coronation Night held at The Arena in San Juan City last night besting 49 candidates. It was a double victory, since another Negros Occidental candidate, Adie Adelantar of Victorias City was crowned Miss Eco-Tourism.

It was a heart-warming moment when Seifert and Adelantar held hands and raised their arms when Billy Crawford was about to announce who between them will be crowned Miss Philippines Earth. It’s like they’re raising the pride and glory of Negros Occidental. They really made their fellow Negrenses proud.

Seifert and Adelantar had very impressive answers both in the Top 10 and in the Final Question and Answer which received thunderous applause from the audience. Indeed, they have the brains to go with the face and body.

Seifert is very updated on the environmental issues in Negros Occidental especially in Bacolod City. Seifert identified waste segregation as the major concern of Negros Occidental having only three out of the 13 citites implement the Solid Waste Management Act. She said it’s her advocacy to promote solid waste management so that more cities and municipalities in the province implement it.

Seifert and Adelantar are both previous candidates in the Bb. Pilipinas pageant. Whereas Adelantar failed to grab the crown in 2007, Seifert was controversially disqualified two days before the coronation night of Bb. Pilipinas 2009 because of some racy photos with FHM. What a great come back for the two beauty queens!

Another winner from Western Visayas was Michelle Martha Braun of Aklan.

American Idol' star David Cook's brother Adam dies of brain cancer

After battling cancer for more than 10 years, American Idol star David Cook's brother, Adam, 37, succumbed to the disease Saturday. David made the announcement at the Washington D.C. Race for Hope 5K, which raises money to support finding a cure for brain cancer, this morning. "Like everybody here, I'm affected by this disease. I actually lost my brother yesterday to a brain tumor," Cook said, as you can hear members of the crowd gasping. "I couldn't imagine... I couldn't imagine being anywhere else right now." David was serving as grand marshal of the event and ran the 3.1 miles in 28 minutes. "I lost one today," Cook added. "But I've gained 9,000 and I will be here every year that they will have me."

What is the appropriate poem for this????

THE RUBBER POEM

Kissing is a habit
Fucking is a game
Boys get the pleasure
Girls get the pain

The boy says “I love you”
You believe it’s true
But when your tummy starts to swell
He’ll just says,” who the hell are you?”

The baby is a bastard
The mother is a whore
This couldn’t happen
If the rubber was put on.

With one ferocious blow by Manny Pacquiao, Ricky Hatton's amazing career is laid to rest

Manny Pacquiao's powerful left hook has ended any sensible prospect of Ricky Hatton fighting again

Ricky Hatton will not fight again. Not the one the fans remember. Even if a shredded remnant of the fighter who thrilled them for a decade contemplates doing so when he recovers from the shocking knockout Manny Pacquiao inflicted on him at the MGM Grand, the real Ricky Hatton started preparing for retirement soon after enduring a similar experience in the same ring 17 months ago.

The left hook with which Floyd Mayweather Jr repelled Hatton's crude challenge in the 10th round of their welterweight title fight in December 2007 was the punch that instigated the Mancunian's slow exit from boxing. Until then, he was unbeaten, unfazed, the shiny young champion of his people. He was to grow old quickly. "He can't take a quality shot any more," a close friend said later on Saturday night, "and I think he knows it."

Mayweather's punch did not have the concussive finality of Pacquiao's wicked left, but the two blows will forever be linked. Pacquiao's arrived in the final second of round two, the third knockdown blow the Filipino had to throw to claim Hatton's IBO and Ring Magazine light-welterweight titles, and if Hatton heeds the wishes of family and friends the last one he will ever take.

Pacquiao put Hatton down in the first round with a right hook he admitted to his corner he never saw, and again with a short left before the bell. From that point on, it was clear we were in for a short night. Pacquiao's trainer, Freddie Roach, told later how they had worked on that right hook for weeks. "Ricky cocks his punches before he throws 'em. Every time he left an opening, Pacquiao's so quick, I knew the inside hook would work every time."

This was an echo of the strategic naivety Hatton showed against Mayweather, when he was out-thought and knocked down by a punch devised by the American's uncle and trainer, Roger.

Hatton seemed to have collected his thoughts when they resumed but was again afflicted by the "red mist" he blames for his wild, swinging ways and walked into more pinpoint shots from the smaller man. When the end came, it was as if we were all sharing the same, slow nightmare, so lightly did Hatton float to the floor. When he landed, he could barely open his eyes, but you could see the pain in them as he lay motionless, the referee, Ken Bayless, not needing to count him out.

Hatton did not just lose a fight and his titles at that moment. He lost all connection with the rest of us in the arena, the power drained from a body he had taken three months to whip into shape.

But the appearance of those rippling muscles could not disguise the damage he has done over the years with a hard-drinking lifestyle taken from some northern manual on male behaviour. It has been this, above all other follies, that has undermined his career, although he will not admit to it because he is a prisoner of his own making, a super-lad among lads.

By the time Hatton had recovered in the Valley hospital off Las Vegas Boulevard in the early hours of yesterday morning, he had Pacquiao's fists, not pints of Guinness, to thank for his headache, and he was greeted immediately by a mixed chorus of advice. Roach, the mastermind of his downfall, cautioned against carrying on. "He's had some mega-fights," he said. "He's had a great career. So, why? He doesn't need it. He has a family, he has a son. With commitments like that, he's got to think about retiring."

It will not be easy, but he will almost certainly walk away, having earned more than £30m in 12 years of largely exhilarating success, spoiled only towards the end by losing to two of the modern greats in Mayweather and Pacquiao. That fact will be the cornerstone of his justification for retiring now, the centrepiece of his nightclub act when he regains his self-esteem and goes back before his public.

That is the only consolation Hatton can take from the defeat. He lost to a fighter who Roach says is on his way to a special kind of greatness, a fighter who is now the hottest property in boxing. Mayweather, officially unretired, will want a piece of him, although Pacquiao now holds all the aces. "We're in no hurry," Roach says.

No amount of considered reflection will change the facts for Hatton, meanwhile: even if he wants to fight again, there is nobody for him to fight. What Pacquiao exposed was the last piece of evidence in a case that has been building steadily for a couple of years. Hatton's punch resistance has fallen to a dangerously low level. "The likes of Timothy Bradley and Kendall Holt would knock him out," a friend of Hatton's said. "Amir Khan would knock him out."

Juan Lazcano nearly stopped him in his comeback fight last year and even the light-hitting Paulie Malignaggi inconvenienced him a couple of times before Pacquiao got to him. The weeks, days and moments before this fight were fraught.

There were rows between his trainer, Floyd Mayweather Sr, and his assistant, Lee Beard. There was speculation – since confirmed – that Roach had been asked to take over his training in the future. And there was a grim mood in the dressing room immediately before the fight.

"He was very nervous in the dressing room before the fight," a friend said. "I don't think he thought he was going to win, even then. I think he suspected he didn't have it anymore, but you can't admit that, not even to yourself."

For weeks, Hatton had railed against those who said that he was going to lose to the best fighter in the world. He sounded then as if he were trying to convince himself but, when it came to proving it, Hatton was in no position to argue the case. He was unconscious and lying flat on his back in the middle of the ring, as former a fighter as it is possible to be.

Pacquiao/Hatton Countdown: Manny Pacquiao - Evolution of a Legend

The software that I have used all these years is called Satellite TV to PC.

By Vivek Wallace: In a sport consisting of 17 separate weight classes and hundreds of contenders contained within each, earning the most coveted status in the game comes with far more pressure than contentment. What has made the rise to pound-for-pound supremacy even more intriguing in the case of Manny Pacquiao is the fact that his journey to where he now stands today required him to categorically bypass 10 of those 17 weight divisions - (flyweight through welterweight) - earning four straps along the way and becoming the first Asian fighter in the history of the sport to do so. The early days in the life of Manny Pacquiao were far from the Hollywood script we see today, and would eventually take a toll on the young Filipino. Not having a pot to piss in or a window to throw it out of wasn't the way Emmanuel Dapidran Pacquiao would have liked to spend those days, but it wasn't until the untimely death of close friend Mark Penaflorida in 1994 that he decided to pursue the sport, which would change his life forever. Some know him as the "Filipino's finest", his native country men and women know him as "Pambansang Kamao", but to those fans around the sport which he has helped save, he's affectionately known as 'Pacman'; a stark parallel to the way we've witnessed him gobble up competitor after competitor..

In January of 1995, Manny Pacquiao would earn a decision against Edmund Ignacio in his first professional competition after four solid rounds. 287 rounds and 52 fights later, he's the owner of 47 more wins against 3 losses, and a consensus bid for being the best in the game. When viewing his road to the top, it was very clear from early on that Manny Pacquiao was not only a man of substance, but one with heart that oozed from his soul. In the Philippines, Manny Pacquiao serves as little less than a walking billboard for his country, adored by the nation, and even granted its highest honors by being asked to carry the torch in the 2008 Olympic Games - making him the first ever in his country to receive such an honor without being an actual Olympic games competitor.

Embodied within his spirit is a man whose way of life could serve as a template for many of us. Humble in nature, predatory at battle. Away from the ring, Pacquiao's celebrity has allowed him to indulge in everything from acting, to music, to global endorsements and politics. Looking in the rearview mirror of his career, few highly notables of his era have escaped his wrath. Among that list is a marquee selection of names such as Marco Antonio Barrera, Erik Morales, Juan Manuel Marquez, and Oscar De La Hoya. Besting that particular group of men who will go down as the greatest of their countries recent era helped Pacquiao earn himself the not so politically correct reputation for being a 'Mexi-cutioner'. Having accomplished everything he could have ever imagined outside the ring already, Pacquiao's focus now lies squarely on accomplishing the few things remaining inside the ring. Those previously mentioned names mean a lot, but the addition of British phenom Ricky Hatton and America's Floyd Mayweather jr. would allow Pacquiao to in effect conquer the 'world' by adding the proverbial cherry on top! With the opportunity to do something grand, the defining moments in that evolution are now one step closer. Tune in Saturday night, May 2nd, at 9pm est on HBOPPV to see if Pacquiao can close the gap and help bring his evolution full circle.

Stay tuned.

'Street Fighter' movie: Where's Ryu and Ken?!

Wait, there's a Chun-Li movie? Like, Chun-Li from Street Fighter? Considering how much Street Fighter II I played on Sega Genesis -- so much, you guys -- I kinda expected someone from Capcom to call me. Personally. And thank me first for my thousands of hours of dedication, and then apologize for not making a Sagat movie first, even though Sagat is obviously the best character to play as, and then we could talk about why Blanka and E. Honda are basically the same, and someone could explain to me why anyone would ever play as Balrog, and wow, do I still have some strong feelings about SFII. Anyway, Street Fighter: The Legend of Chun-Li opens Feb. 27.

Smallville's Kristin Kreuk (pictured) stars as our lightning-kicking heroine, and the film is, roughly, the story of how she came to battle M. Bison (Neal McDonough) and his evil minions. Balrog (Michael Clark Duncan, which...amazing) and Vega (Black Eyed Pea Taboo) are both in it, but, gasp, no Ryu and no Ken. (No Dhalsim and no Sagat, either, so I'm going to have to hope yoga fire and tiger up-per-cut are in the sequel.) The full trailer is aqui, and while it looks to be your pretty basic martial arts action movie, it has gotten me thinking about other secondary videogame characters I'd like to see in full-length features. Toad, Yoshi, it's time to call your agents.

What other videogame characters have been overlooked by Hollywood?

Watch the NASCAR Sprint Cup Duel 1 Race

Fantasy NASCAR players thrive on constants. Uncertainty doesn't sit well when trying to predict drivers' fortunes over the course of a 36-race season.

There will be fewer constants to bank on in 2009, largely the result of the economic crisis that has rocked the sport's core. Team mergers, the lack of sponsorships and mass driver changes will make the fantasy aspect of the sport much more of a guessing game than in the past.
